Bio:

Joseph is a partner in Stikeman Elliott LLP's Montreal office, whose practice focuses on restructuring, insolvency and commercial litigation. Joseph regularly advises and represents debtor companies, secured lenders, court-appointed officers and purchasers in proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangements Act (CCAA) and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.

Joseph has been involved in Quebec-based, national and cross-border proceedings and has appeared before all levels of courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has participated in large-scale restructurings, liquidations and the litigation or arbitration of major commericial disputes in several industry areas, including airlines and aircraft financing, banking construction, equipment financing, energy, forest products, gaming, hydroelectricity, information technology, manufacturing, real estate and retail.

His expertise in dispute and insolvency also frequently lead him to provide strategic advice to clients in commercial transactions, including financing, distressed asset sales and litigation funding.

Professional Activities
Joseph is te President of Bankruptcy and Insolvency section of the Canadian Bar Association (Quebec Division) and a member of the American Bar Association. He sits on the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization l'Arche-Montréal and is also a member of the Montréal office's Continuing Legal Education and Students and Stagiaires Committees.
