Bio: 

Asim aims to provide pragmatic and results-oriented advice to clients facing special situations with a view to achieving his clients’ desired outcomes.

Asim has experience representing financial institutions, secured creditors, debtors, purchasers, court officers (trustees, receivers and monitors), directors, debenture holders, landlords and creditors in all aspects of insolvency matters, including formal insolvency proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. Asim has developed expertise representing stakeholders in insolvent construction projects.

Asim is actively involved in the insolvency community. He is a member of the TMA NextGen Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of The Advocates’ Society Insolvency Litigation Practice Group. Asim is also a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the South Asian Bar Association.

• Counsel to the Monitor in the ongoing restructuring of the Carillion Group in Canada.
• Counsel to PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. in its capacity as court-appointed Monitor in CCAA proceedings of Pacific Exploration and Production Corporation et al.
• Counsel to 4519922 Canada Inc., the debtor company in the restructuring of the former Coopers & Lybrand Partnership.
• Counsel to Laurentian Bank of Canada, the senior secured creditor in the CCAA proceedings of Mady Collier Centre Ltd.
• Counsel to the court-appointed Receiver in proceedings commenced by Emmanuel Village Residences Inc. under the Courts of Justice Act.
• Counsel to defendant in a high-profile Application for a Bankruptcy Order that was covered regularly in The Globe and Mail.
• Counsel to the court-appointed Monitor of the Mobilicity group of companies.
• Second chair representing the court-appointed Monitor of The Futura Loyalty Group Inc.
• Representing the court-appointed Monitor in the CCAA proceeding involving Vanguard Shipping (Great Lakes) Ltd. and Vanship Ltd.
