Professor Antonio Leandro
Full Professor of Public and Private International Law
Bio:
Antonio Leandro is a Full Professor of Public and Private International Law at the Department of Law of the University of Bari Aldo Moro (Italy). He is also "avvocato" qualified to practice before the Italian Supreme Court.
Member of the Group of Experts on Restructuring and Insolvency Law and a former member of the Group of Experts on European Freezing of Bank Accounts appointed by the DG Justice of the European Commission, he joined technical or scientific meetings on insolvency topics organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UNCITRAL Secretariat, and the Presidency of the Council of the EU. Occasionally, he joins the Italian delegation at the meetings of the European Judicial Network in Civil and Commercial Matters.
Observer for UNIDROIT at the Hague Conference on Private International Law Group of Experts on Carbon Markets, he joined the UNIDROIT Project ‘Legal Nature of Verified Carbon Credits’.
He is a fellow of the Roma Tre-UNIDROIT Centre for Transnational Commercial Law and International Arbitration.
Author of four monographs and some 200 papers, he is also editor, or co-editor, of six collective books. He has recently published the book Jurisdiction in EU Cross-Border Insolvency Law (Edward Elgar Publishing 2025) and co-edited/contributed to the book The European Insolvency Regulation and Implementing Legislations. A Commentary (Edward Elgar Publishing 2024). In 2008, he wrote a book on the role of the lex concursus within the European Insolvency Regulation. He serves on the editorial boards of many journals, co-directs a book series and a journal focused on company law, is involved in several scientific projects, and speaks at many national and international conferences. He is also a member, inter alia, of the Conference on European Restructuring and Insolvency Law and INSOL Europe.
