Genesis of an Organization

The International Insolvency Institute is a non-profit, limited-membership organization dedicated to advancing and promoting insolvency as a respected discipline in the international field. Its primary objectives include improving international co-operation in the insolvency area and achieving greater co-ordination among nations in multinational business reorganizations and restructurings.

Cross-Border Insolvency: Practical Topics and Judicial Cooperation

In recent years courts in the Netherlands are confronted with insolvency cases in which non-Dutch elements may play an important role. Cases such as Yukos Oil, Al Italia, Lehman Brothers and several proceedings related to natural persons have drawn attention. This conference aims to inform judges about the role of courts in Belgium, Germany, England and the USA, the central principles in a fair insolvency process and the best practices in cross-border coordination of insolvency cases.
