Bio:

Luiz Fernando Valente de Paiva. Partner of Pinheiro Neto Advogados since 2003. Currently, Co-Head of the Litigation Department Practice. He focuses his practice on Corporate reorganization; bankruptcy; extrajudicial liquidation; counselling to creditors, financiers, debtors, investment funds, investors in distressed companies; security package structuring; recovery and renegotiation of debts; commercial litigation in general.

He is Chairman of TMA Turnaround Management Association - TMA Brasil (the largest organization for Turnaround and Insolvency Professionals in Brazil), Board Member of Brazilian Institute of Corporate Restructuring Studies - IBR and International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professional - Insol (former); Member of the Brazilian National Council of Justice Working Group to debate and propose measures to modernize and improve the effectiveness of the Judiciary Power on reorganization and bankruptcy liquidation cases; Member of the World Bank Insolvency Task Force, International Insolvency Institute - III, American Bankruptcy Institute - ABI, Former member of the Joint Ministerial Committee that helped drafting the final wording of the Brazilian Bankruptcy Law.

Author of several book chapters and articles about Bankruptcy Law published in Brazil and abroad. LL.M. from PUC-SP (2009) and Northwestern University (2016). Professor on Insolvency Courses in Brazil and abroad. Coordinated and, as Visiting Professor, taught three courses designed to acquaint and train judges and public prosecutors vis-à-vis Brazil's bankruptcy law (2005/06).
